Temecula, CA · Your Local Patio Cover Contractor
Elite Patios is a family-owned aluminum patio cover contractor headquartered in Wildomar — a few exits north of Temecula on the I-15, not a drive in from Corona, San Diego, or Orange County. Free on-site design consultation, a fixed written estimate in 24–48 hours, and engineered plans built to the City of Temecula’s own 97 mph wind criteria.

Why local matters
Most patio cover companies bidding Temecula jobs are based in Corona, San Diego, or Orange County. Elite Patios is headquartered in Wildomar, a short run north on the I-15. That proximity shows up in practical ways: we can usually get to your home for an in-person measure within 24 to 48 hours, our crews already know the Permit Center counter on Main Street, and when you need a service call five years after the install, we are minutes up the freeway rather than a county away.
Since 1992 we have designed and installed Alumawood, DuraCool, and 4K Aluminum patio covers for thousands of homeowners across Western Riverside County. Temecula is one of the cities we have worked in longest, including HOA and POA communities where every structure goes through architectural review before it goes up.
The valley’s weather is the reason a patio cover here has to be engineered rather than assembled. Summer highs sit in the upper 80s to mid 90s, the marine air that pulls through the Santa Margarita gap in the afternoon makes a covered patio genuinely usable, and the Santa Ana events that put Temecula under wind advisories each fall are exactly what a cover has to survive. The City of Temecula publishes its design criteria as 97 mph, Wind Exposure Category C — every cover we build is engineered to meet it.

Temecula pricing
The two numbers most homeowners want before they pick up the phone. They are separate charges, and your written quote lists them as separate line items. Both are specific to Temecula — permit cost in particular changes from one city to the next.
Typical installed cost, Temecula
$4,000–$5,000
Standard 10×20 attached aluminum patio cover, installed. This is the structure itself — the city permit is quoted separately.
Permitting, handled turnkey
$700–$800
Our charge to run the whole permit for you: engineered or ICC-listed plans, the city submittal, plan-check corrections, and inspection scheduling through final sign-off. The city’s own fee sits inside this figure.
Four things move the price of a Temecula patio cover more than anything else:
Permits
Attached patio covers and most freestanding structures in Temecula require a building permit from the City of Temecula Building & Safety Division, at the Permit Center on the first floor of City Hall, 41000 Main Street. Plans are reviewed for structural safety, setbacks, and wind-load compliance before anything gets built.
Temecula publishes two fill-in-the-blank patio cover handouts — CD-21 for attached covers and CD-20 for freestanding lattice — and both are written for wood-framed structures built to Douglas Fir span tables. An aluminum cover is an alternate design, which the city allows with a wet-stamped engineered analysis. Elite Patios supplies that engineering on every Temecula project, sized to the city’s published 97 mph, Exposure C criteria.
Those same handouts set the post setbacks: at least five feet from the side and rear property lines, with limits on how far the eave can project past that. We confirm your setbacks on site before we draw anything. The permit is a separate charge from the cover, and it appears as its own line on your written quote.
Neighborhoods
We install across all three Temecula ZIP codes — 92590, 92591 and 92592 — from the master-planned tracts off Winchester and Margarita to the larger lots in Meadowview and Los Ranchitos. Most of these communities run architectural review before a patio cover can go up, and we have been through that process in Temecula for years. We prepare the HOA packet alongside the city permit.
Don’t see your community? We cover all of Temecula — call (951) 210-7998 and we will confirm your setbacks and HOA requirements before we quote.

Questions
In most cases, yes. The City of Temecula requires a building permit from its Building & Safety Division for attached patio covers and for most freestanding structures. Elite Patios prepares and submits the permit application as part of every project, and we schedule the city inspections through final sign-off.
A standard 10×20 attached aluminum patio cover in Temecula typically falls in the installed range shown above. The City of Temecula permit is a separate charge on top of that, and your written quote lists the cover and the permit as two line items so you can see exactly what each one costs. Size, solid versus lattice versus insulated panels, electrical add-ons, and new concrete footings are the four variables that move the cover price most.
The City of Temecula charges $204.00 for a city-standard patio or deck permit covering the first 300 square feet, including ICC-listed products, under its FY2026-27 user fee schedule; a privately engineered, non-ICC design is $517.00. Our turnkey permitting charge, shown in the pricing section above, covers that city fee plus the wet-stamped engineered plans, the submittal, plan-check corrections and inspection scheduling. It is billed as its own line item and never folded into the price of the cover.
No. The city’s two patio cover handouts, CD-21 for attached covers and CD-20 for freestanding lattice, are written for wood-framed structures built to published Douglas Fir span tables. An aluminum cover is an alternate design, which the city allows when it is submitted with a wet-stamped engineered analysis. We provide that engineering on every Temecula job, which is also what makes the structure verifiably compliant with the city’s 97 mph wind criteria.
The city’s patio cover handouts call for patio posts to sit at least five feet from the side and rear property lines, with a limit on how far the eave can project beyond that. Front-yard setbacks vary by zoning district. We verify your lot’s setbacks on site before drawing the plans, so nothing gets redlined at plan check.
Most installations take one to three days on site once the permit is approved and materials arrive. Because our yard is just north of you in Wildomar, Temecula projects are among the easiest on our schedule to slot in quickly.
Yes, and Temecula is where we do it most. Communities across the city run architectural review before a patio cover can be built, and we prepare the drawings and documentation those committees ask for. We have been through the process many times in Temecula HOA and POA communities, as well as in Canyon Lake and Lake Elsinore.
For west-facing patios that take full afternoon sun, a solid or insulated solid cover delivers the biggest temperature difference, and DuraCool’s heat-reflective coating adds to that. If you want to keep the afternoon breeze coming off the Santa Margarita gap moving through the space, a lattice or combination cover gives you solid shade over the seating area and open lattice beyond it.
