Other common sizes from the same cost guide, attached and non-insulated on existing concrete, permit still separate:
- 10′ × 14′ or smaller: approximately $3,000–$4,000, including roughly one light or installation of one homeowner-supplied fan. Insulating this size adds about $700.

Permits
Patio cover permits across Riverside County
Every city in Western Riverside County requires a building permit for a patio cover, and the fee varies more than most homeowners expect. That is the opening of our live permit guide, and it is why this hub exists. At Elite Patios every quote lists two numbers: the installed cost of the cover, and your city’s (or the county’s) permit fee. The permit is never included in the cover price. The fee is not ours. And when another contractor’s number looks lower, the first question is whether the permit is in it, out of it, or ignored.
Incorporated cities issue their own permits. Unincorporated communities — Winchester is the one our table calls out by name — go through Riverside County Building & Safety. The City of Riverside is a city, not a synonym for the county; it has its own page and its own $1,000–$1,500 band. Canyon Lake adds POA architectural approval on top of the city permit. Pockets that share a city mailing address can still be county parcels. We look at the lot, not the letterhead.
We prepare engineered or ICC-listed plans, submit them, run plan-check corrections, and schedule inspections through final sign-off. Aluminum covers are not wood-framed handout jobs. If you would rather pull the permit yourself, you can save the permit service fee. If your community has an HOA or POA, that review is a second gate and we build that packet too. Skipping the permit is how a cover becomes an escrow problem. The fee is cheap compared to exposing footings later.

Is this the City of Riverside or the county?
This is the Western Riverside County hub — the region Elite Patios has worked since 1992. The incorporated City of Riverside is a different permit counter from this county hub — give us your street address and we quote that city, not a county average. Unincorporated communities (Winchester is the published example) pull permits through Riverside County Building & Safety. Using the wrong page is how the permit band gets mixed up.
How much does a patio cover cost in Riverside County?

Homeowners may also pull it themselves and save the permit service fee.
City permit versus HOA — do I need both?
If you live in an HOA or POA community, usually yes — they are independent processes. The permit is about building safety; HOA or POA review is about appearance and community rules. Canyon Lake is the published example of a city permit plus POA architectural approval. We have built in those communities across the valley for many years.
Who pulls the permit — me or Elite Patios?
We handle it turnkey for most jobs: engineered plans, submittal, plan-check corrections, and inspection scheduling. Homeowners may also choose to pull the permit themselves and save the permit service fee. Either way, the jurisdiction’s charge stays a separate line item so you can see what the city or county gets versus what the cover costs.

Which patio cover style is the most economical?
An open lattice cover is generally the most economical style we build, and it still shades and cools a patio significantly.
